Day Four

Ugh. Blogger lost a bunch of stuff I had written. Guess it's just pictures tonight, fix tomorrow.

EDIT: Added notes to this three days after the fact. The above is axe status after getting all of the paint and metallic base removed. It appears to be some type of sealer over the basswood. Nice.

The damn string ferrules. Flush on the back, slight lip on the front. How the hell do they come out?

Thanks to a tip from Dan in the Facebook group "Awesome Cheap Guitars" I have found a way. A finishing nail inserted through the back catches it's head on the front ferrule, then it's simply a tug with the pliers and out they come. Just like pulling teeth. For the back side, the same nail inserted carefully through the front catches the inner lip of the backside insert and tap, tap, tap...

Just had to to see how it looked. Stay tuned for next update, where we secretly switch the sealer with bare wood. Let's see if anyone notices...
